The name says it all.
If you are totally disabled and are expected to be for the rest of your life then Total and Permanent Disability insurance pays you out.
But, what needs to be said…..
Long term disabled people have long term extra expenses. (Unlike those who are unable to work in the short term). For example you may need modifications to your car and house. You may also need to pay for a carer to help out. And if your partner – becomes your carer (!!) – then you’ll need to replace their income.
What’s worse than the extra living expenses?
Totally and Permanently Disabled probably means your future income prospects are limited. You will miss out on the money from your present job until the day you should have retired. Without insurance cover, retirement plans go out the window and you’re faced with an uncertain future. But it doesn’t have to be like that.
